Directions to 65 "I" (Eye) Street Southwest
Come to the National Mall (by Mall we mean the large grassy space with the U.S. Capitol on one end and the Lincoln Memorial on the other -- not a shopping center!) and get on Independence Avenue (the side of the Mall with the Air and Space Museum, the old Smithsonian Castle and the Bureau of Printing and Engraving) heading towards Capitol Hill. Turn right on 7th street or 4th street (SW) and follow either of them to cross the freeway to "I" street. Turn left on "I" street and proceed until Delaware. It's the building on the left pictured here. Pictures and Maps
To avoid downtown:
From Virginia: Come into town on 395 North. You will bear to the right after you have crossed the bridge. Then you will need to move to your left to avoid being forced to exit at C Street. Follow the signs for South Capitol Street. Take the South Capitol Street exit -- a right exit. At the bottom of the exit to the right you will see some tennis courts and some large brick buildings in the background. Those buildings are the Millennium Arts Center. The next right at the light is "I" street. [Look for Best Western] Take that right to 65 "I" street.
From Maryland: If you are coming from North/West of the city it is probably easiest to go over the river and come down the George Washington Parkway. Take the exit for 395 North and then follow the directions above.
From Maryland South or East: Coming in from the East follow signs to 295 South. Soon after you get on 295 South you will exit at the Howard Road exit. Right at the light at the bottom of the exit. Follow this over the South Capitol Street Bridge. Go straight towards the U.S. Capitol. To the left you will see the Best Western. That is "I" (Eye) street but you can't turn left there. Make a right turn on ""I street and then make a U-turn when it is convenient. Then just go straight on "I" street at S. Capitol and it will be in the first block on your right.
From Southern Maryland come north on 295 until the South Capitol Street bridge exit and then follow the directions above.
